FashionOne takes a look at the successful career of British football star David Beckham
David Beckham, born David Robert Joseph Beckham, was born in London on May 2, 1975. Beckham always knew he wanted to be a footballer and managed to bag his first job with the most popular club in the UK, Manchester United, in 1992 at the tender age of 17. His debut success with the club saw him picked for the England squad and catapulted him to footballer fame. He was the first UK footballer to win league titles in four different countries, has scored at three World Cups and played 100 champions league matches.
David Beckham met his now-wife, Victoria Beckham (then Victoria Adams), when she attended one of his games in 1997. Victoria was still in the pop band the Spice Girls as “Posh Spice” at this time. This young power couple got married in 1999 and moved into their home—aptly nicknamed “Beckingham Palace”—in famous Hertfordshire, estimated to be worth £7.5 million. Posh and “Becks” have since had four children, the oldest of which is Brooklyn, who was famously named after where he was conceived, and who is now launching into his own career as a model for Burberry. After living in LA, the Beckham family are now residing back in the UK, and David is undertaking his dad duties while Victoria opens her first London store.
David Beckham has been a centerfold star for years and in the past decade has really stepped up his style credentials and has consistently been named one of the the best-dressed men in the world.
