Shanghai Tang brings you its first limited edition upcycled collection from the winner of the EcoChic design award contest in 2015, Kévin Germanier. His capsule collection retains the elegance and history of the brand while having an edgy, graphic and contemporary feel. Kévin took inspiration in Shanghai Tang’s DNA to design 7 pieces with his own vision of ‘modern Chinese chic’ and used upcycling surplus luxury fabric from previous Shanghai Tang collections.

Composed by a patchwork of up-cycled fabrics, the collection offers sharp and sleek pieces through a modern interpretation of Mongolian patchwork and qipao dress. Besides, the color palette used, the inspiration is linked to the brands AW16 women’s ready to wear collections so as to enable the customer to mix pieces from both collections.
Definitely modern, the pieces are also made to enhance the figure thanks to clever design details, such as 2cm higher waists on some pieces that help elongate the body.

Kévin Germanier is a meticulous and devoted women’s wear fashion designer studying at Central Saint Martins in London.

Ten percent of sales from the Shanghai Tang collection, which will be stocked at its Hong Kong and Singapore stores, will be donated to Redress to support the environmental NGO in promoting sustainability in the fashion industry.
